Weekend coffee #83.
I’m both thrilled and saddened to usher in August. On the one hand, we’ve got another seven-ish weeks of summer to go, and on the other, it’s freaking August already. Though I do love the way the grass starts to smell this time of year. Reminds me of playing soccer in high school. So while I’m definitely not doing that anymore, here’s what I am reading, watching and otherwise, thinking about:
I always love the advice that centenarians give out in these interviews. Sometimes it’s “I never worked out a day in my life!” Or “I drink whisky every night!” And even as a married person, I see this lady’s point.
Said it before, I’ll say it again, Lizzo is a goddamn queen. Stop whatever it is you’re doing and spend the next 17 or so minutes watching her perform at a “tiny ass desk” to the point that even babies rejoice.
“Wow! This CEO is Still On Her Parents’ Cell Phone Plan.” Well played, Reductress.
So my birthday isn’t for a few months, but I’m really into this idea from Everywhereist. To the point that I might start putting together a pile and counting up how many things I can get rid of between now and December.
“Big Alcohol is pouring billions into the drinkable marijuana market. But is that how anybody wants to get high?” Saw this IRL when we were in Seattle last month and while intrigued, I can’t see it catching on here in NJ.
Made this strawberry cake for my dad’s birthday (with some extra sugar and lemon zest at a friend’s insistence) and well, I’d happily eat the rest of it right this very second if I could.
Did you know you can rent from Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters and Free People now? Not sure I would but interesting to know that the option exists.
That’s all for now. Until next week - thanks for following along.
