Weekend coffee #69.
So I skipped a week in my ongoing series reflecting on every job I’ve ever had. At the same time, a funny thing happened on Twitter, with people listing out five jobs they’ve had in response to this article. Unsurprisingly, pretty much the whole world (or at least those actively tweeting) have some funny job titles in their past, too. The irony being, we (collective, as in society) seem to cling to this notion that humans are meant to hold one job, at one company for life. That just simply isn’t the case anymore. And honestly, the reason I missed a week talking about my own jobs is that a few more came to mind and I’m not sure how or where I want to address them. Career paths aren’t always linear. Sometimes we skip around, sometimes we freelance, sometimes we start, stop and start again. Anyway, I’m getting off topic, so let’s get back to everything else I’m thinking about:
“Some writers used to drink when the words didn't come. Now we have the internet.” Keep reading; it’s a tough one that illuminates the consequences of having access to so much information at our fingertips. It also pulls on the heartstrings in terms of childhood nostalgia and the people we lose in growing up. Sigh.

The Petty Writing Mistake That Drives Me Nuts. A day or two before I saw this article come out, I ran a poll echoing an old Fast Company piece about the right abbreviation for “favorite.” Mostly because every time I see “fav” I cringe.
Really enjoying this new podcast, Going Through It, hosted by Ann Friedman, another person I follow and seem to post about semi-regularly. I much prefer learning from other’s experiences over being told to what steps to follow. Paths vary.
