Weekend coffee #68.
This week brought us Homecoming, a redacted Mueller Report, a new album from Lizzo and that’s just scratching the surface. Lots to consume and I’m just starting to process. While putting this post together, I noticed there’s a strong female theme, which was purely accidental but I’m here for it. Here’s what that looks like:
Did a censored female writer inspire Hemingway’s famous style? Never much of a Hemingway fan (though I do fancy the daiquiri), I love a good female inspiration behind the man story.
Is that Katie Porter or Katie Hill? New California congresswomen keep getting mixed up. It’s not that difficult to keep Katies straight, and I speak from experience on this one.
Woman Finds Ring Filled With Charlotte Brontë's Hair, Is Now $26,000 Richer. What an interesting, mildly creep artifact to stumble upon (please don’t save my hair).
Mom vs. Dad on the Road to 2020. A new look at some old double standards from Rebecca Traister. Bonus content: Young Elizabeth Warren, looking amazing right post-childbirth.
Why I Take All My First Dates to Olive Garden. Solid rationale, unless like me, you’ve never been to Olive Garden for fear of being disinherited. Italian-American logic rules supreme.
I love summer but sort of hate sandals. I run into this year after year and am currently mulling over these. But I can’t help thinking, are they just glorified Crocs?
Until next week - thanks for following along.
