Weekend coffee #94.
Lots happening with Bronco II this week! We’re playing Queens tonight, New Brunswick on Tuesday, sent our tape to print and helped Jesse announce the launch of his label, Mister Face Records. That alone feels like a huge accomplishment, even though we’re probably five to six weeks out from the official release. While we wait, I’m keeping busy with a few other projects, on top of work and getting a head start on the holidays. I’m one of those obnoxious people who likes to finish shopping before Thanksgiving. What can I say, I find the holidays more enjoyable knowing I’m done and don’t have to battle crowds at the mall. I already checked a few people off the list this week. Otherwise, here’s what I’m thinking about:
Theory: All Good Outfits Go Bad at 3 p.m. Never realized how true this is until I saw the article pop up. Even though I get to live most of my life in workout clothes, I do still enjoying dressing up on weekends and often find myself annoyed by how wrinkly I look after a few hours.
Performing at my father's funeral taught me the life lesson I needed most. This one had me laughing at times and in tears at others. But I guess that’s the whole point. Sometimes humor comes from sadness and vice versa.
The way forward for Me Too, according to founder Tarana Burke. I see a lot of media coverage refer to this as the “post-Me Too” era, and that’s crap. Half the cases haven’t gone to trial, and the movement started long before 2017. We’re not there yet, and I’m interested to see what comes next.
A Famous Artist Doodled On A NYC Bar’s Wall, Taking A Photo Of It Got Us Thrown Out. I haven’t been to Niagara in like two or three years, but frankly, it’s a dive bar. I suspect they don’t want too much press around the murals because that might cause the DOH to come calling.
This Instagram account dedicated to my hometown — file under: only funny to me and a few others. There’s even a meme about a food fight that took place during my senior year of high school…back in 2002. Hyperlocal humor for sure.
Dolly Parton's America. I’m kicking myself for missing Kacey Musgraves at Radio City this week (being cheap), so instead, I’m diving into this podcast on her predecessor. Episode one was excellent, and I’m eagerly awaiting the rest of the series.
That’s all for now. Until next time - thanks for following along.
