Greetings, hi, hello.

Welcome to my site. This is where I showcase my work and write about this thing called life. Enjoy!

Weekend coffee #55.

This week got away from me. It happens. I try not to beat myself up about it but there’s something so satisfying about getting everything done. So a few things slipped off the list. At least I’m here now. Fresh off the end of my gig at Verizon, where I launched their Careers blog, Verizon Works, and feeling pretty good about what I managed to accomplish there in six months. It must have showed too, because I walked into the gym Friday morning and my trainer said, “Wow, you look really content today.” I’m not sure anyone has ever described me as content but I’ll take it. Here’s some other stuff infiltrating my brain this week:

  • I always think it’s funny when people categorize themselves by the decade they were born in. Like please, my memories from the 1980s are slim at best. If anything, I’m the consummate 1990s kid. And with that a huge Cranberries fan, so I’m excited for their final album following the passing of Dolores O’Riordan last year.

  • This was a particularly interesting read, especially with so much of the Internet up in arms over that new Gillette commercial. I used to wonder how long it would be before we saw the feminine fully recognized and embraced, but lately I think a lot about how quickly the masculine narrative is changing and what that will mean in the years to come.

  • I get that people don’t really want to talk or think about death all that often. I never really gave it much thought until I set up a will and realized that I wasn’t really into our two main options - casket or cremation. So maybe there’s something to the idea of human composting (although a rebrand might be in order).

  • "Worst Sound Installation Ever" to Play Toto's "Africa" for All Eternity. This made me LOL, having definitely mentioned this ridiculous song at least once before. Can you imagine being subjected to it on loop? Forever? I think I missed my calling in life.

  • So I’m not drinking this month and I’m also not shopping for some reason? Ugh. What on earth was I thinking. But that hasn’t stopped me from “browsing” (and aggressively bookmarking everything I want to buy come February). Including these overalls that I saw in an Instagram ad of all places.

Until next week. Stay warm and dry.
