Weekend coffee #221.
Since it’s starting to look like this might be a brief window between variants (AGAIN), I’m getting ready to take a few days off to decompress. Given the state of the world, I feel weird doing that right now, but the overwhelming sense of helplessness cultivated since March 2020 seems to be prevailing. Reminds me of the Vonnegut quote, “Of course it is exhausting, having to reason all the time in a universe which wasn’t meant to be reasonable.” So while taking a break might appear unreasonable at this moment, here we are, and here is what else is going on:
As the last of the Entenmann brothers dies, nostalgia for the brand's baked goods remains strong
I didn’t realize how many Arc de Triomphes I’ve seen.
It Could Have Been the World’s Largest Potato, if Only It Were a Potato
Meet St. Brigid, Ireland’s Only Woman Patron Saint (my confirmation name)
Currently watching: nothing, no tv where I’m going.
Currently reading: The Bonfire of the Vanities
That’s all for now. Until next time - thanks for following along and stay sane.
