Weekend coffee #159.
This week I had a few encounters with folks overseas about what it’s like watching the U.S. right now. I get the distinct impression it’s a lot like seeing a movie, in that it’s bordering on surreal. I can’t say I’m particularly proud of that, but as the saying goes, truth is stranger than fiction. That’s probably why it’s so hard to believe that we’re only two weeks into 2021. I feel like we’ve fit the worst of 2020 into what everyone hoped would be a cleaner, better start. The optimist in me hopes things improve with the new administration. The realist knows that we’re likely in for more of the exact same. Cheerful, I know. Here’s what else is going on:
Finding time for creativity will give you respite from worries.
Magical Ice Bubbles Appear on the Surface of Lake Nukabira in Hokkaido
Macaulay Culkin cosigns campaign to have Donald Trump removed from ‘Home Alone 2′
More laughs … Claire’s to Take Over Distribution of Vaccine.
Currently watching: Pretend It’s a City.
Currently reading: Betting on You.
Clearly, I’m looking for an escape right now. Hence all the satire, humor, and general irreverence on this week’s list. I anticipate a whole lot more of the same in the coming week. Until next time - thanks for following along, and be well.
