Weekend coffee #73.
TBH, I thought there was another weekend before Memorial Day so I’m feeling a little off but jazzed on summer. This marks the unofficial start around these parts and I have my beach badge ready to go - just need to put some air in my bike tires. I even have my first beach read all picked out. No fluffy fiction though. I’ll be reading The Man from the Train for now. Here’s the other stuff I’m thinking about this week:
On the topic of trains, I enjoyed this article about Britt, Iowa and hobo culture. There was a time in my life where I was researching some related stories and I still find the subject fascinating.
And speaking of summer…not sure I’m ready to head into the water yet after this piece. Sharks are definitely a thing around here (see the Jersey Shore shark attacks of 1916 for more info).
Oh, my little young teenage heart so loved Francesca Lia Block books. I even have a Weetzie Bat-inspired tattoo on my right arm though I largely agree with this writer’s assessment.
Experiencing some podcast fatigue lately which means I’m back on music. Not the worst trade. That includes the Amyl & the Sniffers (for energy) juxtaposed with Karl Blau (for relaxing).
Also thinking about stealing away in some air conditioning in the months to come. That includes the Downton Abbey movie this September. Trailer here.
Until next time - thanks for following along!
