Weekend coffee #65.
I came very close to forgetting about this post. This week a blur and now I’m here, furiously typing my weekend away. That’s alright by me, Jesse is also working so things are quite and I am getting shit done ahead of a short (but jam-packed) week. My band is playing a show Tuesday night for the first time in months, there are classes to take and pieces to write and a short trip up to Mystic (yes, pizza) for my cousin’s wedding planned. As I gear up for that, here’s the other stuff I’m thinking about:
Loft Tenants in Bushwick Face Pending Eviction. NYC stories tend to resonate with me and this is an interesting case, made more complicated by nearby legislation that almost but no quite protects these particular tenants.
Beauty Tips from My Dead Sister. The headline caught my eye but the story kept me engaged, something I certainly wasn’t expecting from post-layoffs Buzzfeed. It’s haunting and gutting and will likely bring tears to your eyes.
A different voice in the Kurt Cobain legacy. While never a huge Nirvana fan, it is one of the first stories I watched unfold in real-time so I’m always interested in new information, even though it doesn’t change the outcome.
As someone who uses stock photos pretty regularly, I’m glad to see the release of this gender-inclusive collection. I think it’s time we put the whole white woman laughing with salad trope to rest. It’s been long enough.
Have I ever mentioned my love of french onion soup? I actually order it fairly regularly at our local bar but I’ve never tried to make it myself. Suspect that may change, regardless of the current weather.
I used to be a dress person, like pretty much always. Now most of my dresses are saved for special occasions though I have my eye on this striped number for summer. It reminds me of the summer right after college in the best way possible.
Until next week - thanks for following along.
