Weekend coffee #58.
As per usual, after a ridiculously long January, we’re into February and picking up steam. Travel plans are taking shape, with a trip to Vegas later this month for a conference and a cruise to Alaska booked for this summer. Tickets to events purchased, the calendar starting to fill. Finally beginning to feel the momentum and get excited about what’s to come. Took long enough. Anyway, self-serving nonsense aside, here’s everything else I’m thinking about this week:
Facebook: Where Friendships Go to Never Quite Die. I was an early adopter, gifted Facebook as a college student way back when. I was also an early dissenter, deleting my account in 2013, mostly because I lost way too many hours looking at the dull lives of people I barely knew. Can’t say I miss it (or those long lost friendships) much at all.
The Weird Rom-Com Trope No One Talks About. Ha, I never really gave this much thought before but it certainly rings true. How many odd roommates have you ever had? I have had many, many roommates over the years, some stranger than others, but none so weird that it warrants this characterization.

Little Ruby turns nine next week, with white hair starting to populate her head and muzzle., thankfully still chasing her sister around.
How NYT Cooking Became the Best Comment Section on the Internet. Honestly, most of the time, the comments section is better than the content, especially when it involves an institution like the New York Times. I recommend spending some time digging around at the bottom of the screen, it’s worth it.
