Weekend coffee #104.
Hey, look at that. Another year down. Coming up on ten years of blogging at this domain (with a break here and there). I thought about looking back on the decade, but what’s the point? It’s all in the archives. Instead, let’s talk about 2019 and a few favorites. In no particular order:
Harry Styles - Fine Line. Sure, Pitchfork only gave it a six, but I give it two very enthusiastic thumbs up. And no, I’m not being sarcastic.
Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe. This book. Holy moly. If you like history and/or true crime, it’s for you. Even if you don’t, read it.
The Zen of Weight Lifting. A repeat mention because I found powerlifting this year, and the article explains why better than I ever could.
Georgia Maq - Pleaser. Oh look, another album Pitchfork gave a middling review to that I love. No surprise here, Maq’s other project, Camp Cope, was my top album of 2018.
Elizabeth Suzann Clyde Jumpsuit. An investment piece that’s already shown its return. Considering getting the linen one for warmer weather.
Hiroshima-Style Okonomiyaki. Jesse requested this for his birthday, which meant I had to learn how to make it. This dish is worth the effort.
Griefbacon’s Things to Do in New York City. I’m sad to see this newsletter come to an end, mostly because of pieces like this one.
Bad Blood by John Carreyou. When it comes to the Elizabeth Holmes-Theranos' story, the truth is stranger than fiction.
Went to Alaska. There’s something magical about a world mostly untouched by human hands (coming from the most densely populated state in the country).
That’s all for now. Until next YEAR - thanks for following along.
