House update.
Pretty sure I said it a few weeks back but I'm going to say it again. I finally understand the phrase "move-in ready." That and I have a newfound respect for serial renovators, especially those of the DIY persuasion.
So here we are, rapidly approaching the middle of June. The target completion date for our bathroom and kitchen reno has come and gone and we are still nowhere near done. Actually, that's not entirely true. The bathroom is almost done. Like 95 percent done. Just a matter of finishing up the molding, touching up paint and installing a few accessories.
The kitchen, on the other hand, is currently a sad shell of its former self. Cabinets are sitting waiting to be installed. Floors are begging for attention. And my beautiful new, smudge proof stainless steel appliances are still all wrapped up. No recipes can be made these days.
It's an interesting process, watching a renovation unfold. Coming from the corporate world, project management is a natural inclination. In my builder's world, that's not the case and the whole process is testing my little type A personality to the max. But luckily, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Though the project is slow going and hopelessly behind schedule, I think that with any luck, I should be back in the kitchen by July. Until then, takeout it is.
