Weekend coffee #46.
Alright, I don’t know how we got to Thanksgiving but it’s here. Aiming to wrap up my never-ending series on Japan this week and move onto our recent trip to Memphis, a city that I’ll admit surprised me. More on that later. Otherwise, work is keeping me on my toes as we approach that end of year slowdown. Sprint to the finish. Here’s some of what I’m thinking about this week:
Watch: Why ramen is so valuable in prison. Interesting how in the place of traditional cash, ramen contributes to an informal economy. Apparently, capitalism prevails, even behind bars.
What happens when you stop using face wash. Despite my love of overpriced skin care products, I’m not exactly great about using them consistently. In fact, I really only “wash” my face in the shower.
We’re heading to Jesse’s aunt’s house for Thanksgiving this year and plan to bake a pie to bring. I used to make this cranberry-apple Nantucket all the time so that’s a contender. Also thinking about the streusel on this Smitten Kitchen cranberry pie.
I’m also not big on buying myself nice things, but I’m mulling over purchasing the boots I shared last week, a new, more expensive bag and probably going to get these coveralls. Winter fashion solved.
And because it’s not all about me and we’re in the season of giving, here are a few places you may consider donating to: Feeding America or your local chapter, Americares wildfire disaster relief fund for the folks in California or the Rancho Relaxo animal rescue.
