I've never been one for Valentine's Day. The idea of it, sure, but the whole Hallmark forced romance aspect just isn't my thing. This year, valentine or not, I intend to get my butt over to one of the many local movie theaters that will be showing 16 Candles on the big screen. Since I was born after the movie came out, I missed the opportunity the first time around but this time, you'll find me with a bucket of popcorn, box of Raisinettes and a large Diet Coke staring longingly at high school hunk, Jake Ryan.
I'm not even going to wonder why exactly the movie is being release for Valentine's Day, considering it in no way relates to the holiday. It's certainly not the anniversary of the movie's release, though 27 is a great one to celebrate.
No, instead, I'm going to think back to the days of being 16 and catch up on totally teen angst worthy quotes like, "You know everyone in this family has gone total outer limits." Not to mention Molly Ringwald's character Samantha's totally keen fashion sense (still light years ahead of the cringe inducing attire she dons as Andie in Pretty in Pink that evokes a "sexy grandma" vibe ).
But I digress.
